Why It's Important to See Your Dentist Twice Per Year

If it has been a while since you last visited a family dentistry practice
in Damascus, it’s time to make an appointment. Even if you aren’t
experiencing tooth pain or other symptoms, it’s still important to get an
oral exam and professional teeth cleaning every six months. Some patients, such as those with a history of gum disease,
may even need to see the dentist more frequently. Regular family dentistry
appointments are crucial because your dentist and dental hygienist can
detect oral health problems that may not be causing symptoms yet. Early
treatment of these problems can prevent them from getting worse and requiring
more extensive care.
In addition to getting an oral exam, you will receive a thorough teeth
cleaning at the dental office. Even if you are diligent about brushing
and flossing, you probably still have tartar buildup on your teeth, particularly
beneath the gum line. It’s impossible to remove this hard substance
with an ordinary toothbrush. Your dental hygienist can gently scrape it
off to prevent the gums from becoming inflamed and irritated.
